Cream sugar and shortening.
Add eggs and molasses.
Sift together flour, spices, soda and salt.
Add to sugar mixture. Roll into balls the size of walnuts.
Coat with sugar.
Place on greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375Β° for 10 to 12 minutes.
Yields 3 dozen cookies.
Self-rising flour does nicely also.
