Beat eggs until light and foamy.
Add sugar and salt; blend well.
Add milk and vanilla.
Line a 9-inch pie pan with your favorite pastry recipe.
(The secret of the crust is not to have it too thin.
It should be thick so the custard won't run through.)
Brush the pastry with melted butter, pour custard into pastry shell and sprinkle with nutmeg.
Bake in 450° oven for 10 minutes, then reduce heat to 325° and bake for 25 minutes.
