Combine sugar, Karo, water, salt and peanuts in saucepan. Cook until temperature of 290Β° on a candy thermometer (hard crack).
Remove from heat and quickly stir in soda, vanilla and oleo.
Beat vigorously and spread on two greased cookie sheets. When cool enough to handle, stretch out to make as thin as possible; then break into pieces.
