Nana's German Chocolate Cake
Nana'S German Chocolate Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. boiling water, 1 pkg. german chocolate, 3/4 c. butter or margarine, 1 1/2 c. sugar and 4 egg yolks, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Melt chocolate in boiling water; set aside and cool.
Cream butter and sugar until creamy.
Add egg yolks one at a time; beat well after each.
Sift soda, salt and flour (do not use salt if using self-rising flour) together.
Beat in chocolate, then add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk; beat until smooth.
Add vanilla and fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
Bake at 350Β° until done.
