Mix Bread
Mix Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2/3 c. grits (salt grits to taste and measure before cooking), 2 tbsp. crisco, 1 c. warm water, 4 1/2 c. plain flour and 1 1/2 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.
Pour cooked grits into mixing bowl.
Add Crisco; let cool. Add part of the flour, salt, sugar and yeast.
Lastly, add warm water; beat with electric mixer for a few minutes, adding more flour while you beat by hand.
Turn out on floured board; work with hands until you have a workable dough.
Place in a large bowl; cover and let rise until double in size.
Punch down; place in pans and let rise again until double in size.
Bake at 350Β° for 35 to 40 minutes.
