Karen Leonard's Spice Cookies
Karen Leonard'S Spice Cookies is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 1/2 c. sifted flour, 1/8 tsp. salt, 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar, 1/2 tsp. baking soda and 1/2 tsp. nutmeg, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Packed with nutrients and delicious flavors.
Sift and measure flour; add salt, cream of tarter, baking soda, nutmeg and cinnamon.
Sift together.
In separate bowl, cream shortening and sugar.
Add 1 egg and beat until creamy. Stir in milk and vanilla.
Gradually add flour mixture.
Chill in refrigerator about 2 hours or until easy to handle.
Roll dough on floured surface to 1/4-inch or 1/8-inch thick.
Cut with cookie cutters.
Place on greased cookie sheet.
Brush cut outs with beaten egg white and sprinkle with sugar, if desired.
Bake at 375Β° for 10 minutes.
