Add dry ingredients (flour, baking powder and salt) alternately with milk and vanilla.

Divide batter into 2 portions.

Into one part, put the cinnamon, allspice and cloves.

Add the seeded, chopped raisins.

Pour the batter into 4 greased and floured 9-inch layer pans.

Make 2 spice layers and 2 light layers.

Bake at 375Β° for about 25 minutes or until done.

Cool layers and put together with filling, alternating light and dark layers.

Frost top and sides of cake with a 7-minute icing.
