Italian Shell Bake
Italian Shell Bake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 1/2 c. (8 oz.) medium shells (uncooked), 1 lb. ground beef, 1 c. chopped onion (optional), 1 c. tomato sauce and 1 tsp. each: garlic salt and oregano, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Brown ground beef in large skillet.
Add onion and saute until tender.
Pour off excess fat.
Stir in tomato sauce, garlic salt, oregano and pepper; simmer.
While this simmers, cook medium shells according to package; drain well.
Combine Ricotta, 1 1/2 cups Mozzarella and chopped parsley; mix well.
Combine shells with meat sauce.
Place 1/2 of the mixture into a buttered pan. Spread cheese filling evenly over shells.
Do again with shells and meat mixture; spread cheese mixture.
Sprinkle Mozzarella. Cover and bake at 350Β° for 25 minutes.
Remove cover and bake 5 minutes longer.
