Italian Cream Cake
Italian Cream Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. butter or 1 stick margarine, 1/2 c. shortening, 2 c. sugar, 5 egg yolks and 2 c. flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.

Cream shortening and margarine; add sugar and beat until mixture is smooth.
Add yolks and beat well.
Combine flour and soda and add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk.
Stir in vanilla.
Add coconut and chopped nuts.
Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
Bake in three greased 9-inch pans.
Bake in 350Β° oven for 25 minutes or until done.
Frost.
Can be baked in two layers and cut each crosswise, making four layer cake.
