Italian Cream Cake
Italian Cream Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. butter or margarine, 1/2 c. vegetable shortening, 2 c. sugar, 5 eggs, separated and 2 c. sifted all-purpose flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.

Cream butter, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg yolks.
Sift together flour and baking soda; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk.
Stir in vanilla, coconut and nuts.
Beat egg whites until stiff; fold into batter. Turn into 3 greased and floured 9-inch layer pans.
Preheat gas oven to 350Β°.
Bake 30 minutes or until done.
Fill and frost with icing.
