Irish Soda Bread
Irish Soda Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 4 c. flour, 1/4 c. sugar, 1 t. salt, 1 t. baking soda and 1 t. baking powder, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

In a mixing bowl, blend together the flour, sugar, baking powder, soda and salt.
Cut in margarine until mixture resembles coarse meal.
Add raisins, caraway seeds, egg and buttermilk.
Stir until blended.
Knead on floured board until smooth.
Shape dough into 2 balls and place each in a greased 8-inch round cake pan.
Flatten to fill pans.
Cut a deep cross in the top of each loaf.
Bake at 375Β° for about 40 minutes or until done.
Slice and serve with butter.
Yield: 2 loaves.
