Resift flour with sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Stir in currants/raisins.
Combine beaten eggs, buttermilk and shortening.
Stir in dry ingredients, mixing until moist.
Turn into greased 9 1/2 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
Bake at 350Β° for about 1 hour.
Remove from pan; allow to cool before slicing.
