Sift flour, sugar and baking powder into a bowl.

Add butter and mix as for pie dough.

Mix together sour cream, egg yolks and vanilla.

Add this mixture to dough mixture and mix well.

Dough will be soft.

Roll a little more than 1/2 of dough into a jelly roll pan.

Spread the jam on top.

Beat egg whites and 1/2 cup sugar gradually until stiff, then fold in nuts.

Spread the nut mixture on the preserves.

Be careful not to mix the two toppings. Make narrow strips of dough in a crisscross pattern on top of nut filling.

Bake at 350Β° for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
