Homemade Pretzels
Homemade Pretzels is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 5 lbs. self-rising flour, 2 tsp. salt, 3 eggs, 1 lg. c. milnot and 4 tbsp. melted lard, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.
Mix your baking soda in your buttermilk.
Mix all ingredients.
Knead until dough works well.
Soft dough makes a much better pretzel.
Roll into pretzel.
Cook in lye water (6 c. water to 2 tsp. lye) until pretzels float to top.
Take out of water and drain, then salt, put in a heavily greased baking pan.
Bake in a 450 - 500 degree oven until nice and brown.
Change the lye water about half way through or else add more lye and water.
