Combine oats, boiling water, oleo and milk in large bowl. Let stand 20 minutes for quick oats, nearly one hour for regular.

Dissolve yeast in warm water.

Add to oats when cool. Add other ingredients except flour.

Stir in 4 cups flour and beat strokes. Add flour until workable dough is obtained.

Grease hand and bowl with lard and knead until springy and smooth.

Let set in bowl until double in bulk.

Punch down.

Let rise again.

Punch down again.

Put in well greased pans.

Let rise again.

At 350Β° for 50 minutes or until done.

Makes 5 or 6 loaves.

You could make 1/2 recipe if you don't want so much.

But with a large family this doesn't last long.
