Grandma Gentry's Date Bar Cookies
Grandma Gentry'S Date Bar Cookies is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 6 eggs, 1 c. white sugar, 1 c. brown sugar, 2 c. flour and 1 tsp. baking powder, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Beat together eggs and sugar.
Add flour sifted together with baking powder and salt.
Add dates cut in half (pit removed) and pecans.
Be sure to grease and flour cookie sheet, 17 1/4 x 12 1/2 x 1-inch.
Pour mixture in pan and spread evenly.
Sprinkle the colored sugar on top of mixture before baking.
Green and/or red combination looks pretty at Christmastime.
Bake slowly at 250Β° for 1 to 1 1/2 hours until firm to touch.
Cool and cut into squares.
