Gingerbread Cookies
Gingerbread Cookies is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. shortening, 1 c. sugar, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 egg and 1 c. molasses, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.

Cream shortening, sugar and salt.
Stir in egg, molasses and vinegar; beat well.
Sift dry ingredients; stir into molasses mixture.
Chill for about 3 hours; then roll on lightly floured surface.
Roll to 1/8 inch thickness.
Cut with gingerbread cutter.
Place 1 inch apart on a greased cookie sheet.
Use red hots for faces and buttons.
Bake for about 6 minutes at 375Β°. Cool slightly and decorate with confectioners icing.
Makes about 5 dozen.
