Gingerbread
Gingerbread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. sugar, 1/2 c. butter or margarine, 1 1/2 tsp. soda, 1 tsp. ginger and 1/2 tsp. cloves, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.

Cream butter and sugar; add beaten egg.
Sift together dry ingredients.
Add to butter mixture alternately with molasses. Beat well.
Add hot water last.
Mix well.
Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan.
Bake at 350Β° for 30 to 40 minutes.
Set on rack to cool.
While still warm, use spatula and spread with molasses.
Sprinkle with granulated sugar.
Serve warm with lemon sauce, whipped cream or warm applesauce which is our favorite.
