Gingerbread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. shortening, 1/2 c. sugar, 2 eggs, beaten, 2 1/2 c. all purpose flour, sifted and 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

Cream sugar and shortening until fluffy.
Add eggs, then previously sifted dry ingredients alternately with the syrup and water.
Add one cup chopped nuts if desired.
Beat enough to mix thoroughly.
Pour into a well greased 12 1/2 x 8 x 2-inch pan and bake at 350Β° for 40 to 45 minutes.
