German Chocolate Pie
This chilled German Chocolate Pie uses melted marshmallows, milk, German sweet chocolate, vanilla, and whipped cream for a light mousse filling. It sets in a baked pie shell, giving a cool, creamy dessert with a softer texture than baked custard versions.
Combine the marshmallows, milk, salt, and German sweet chocolate in the top of a double boiler.
Warm gently, stirring often, until the marshmallows and chocolate are melted and completely blended.
Remove from the heat, cool until no longer warm, then stir in the vanilla.
Whip the cream to soft peaks and fold it into the cooled chocolate mixture without deflating it.
Spoon the filling into the baked pie shell and refrigerate until fully set before slicing.
