German Chocolate Pie
German Chocolate Pie is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 unbaked pie shell, 1 (4 oz.) sweet baking chocolate, 1/4 c. margarine or butter, 1 (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk and 1/2 c. unsifted flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Bursting with flavor in every bite.
In heavy saucepan over low heat, melt chocolate and margarine; remove from heat.
Add sweetened condensed milk, flour, vanilla, salt and eggs; mix well.
Reserving 1/4 cup coconut for garnish, stir in remaining coconut and nuts.
Pour into shell; garnish with remaining coconut.
Bake 40 to 50 minutes or until top is firm and coconut is lightly browned.
Cool thoroughly before cutting.
Garnish with whipped cream, if desired.
