German Chocolate Cake
German Chocolate Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 c. sugar, 1 c. crisco, 1 c. buttermilk, 4 eggs, separated and 2 1/2 c. flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Dissolve chocolate in 1/2 cup of boiling water.
Set aside to cool.
Beat egg whites until stiff.
Cream the egg yolk, sugar and Crisco.
Add alternately 3/4 cup of buttermilk and flour. Dissolve soda in 1/4 cup of buttermilk.
Add to batter plus salt, vanilla and chocolate.
Fold in egg whites.
Bake in 350Β° oven. Makes 3 nice size layers.
