French Bread
French Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 pkg. dry yeast, 2 1/2 cups warm water, 1 tbsp. shortening, 1 tbsp. salt and 6 cups flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Dissolve dry yeast in 1/2 cup water.
In a large bowl combine dissolved yeast, rest of water, shortening, sugar and salt.
Add flour a little at a time. When all flour has been added, knead well.
Let rise. Turn onto floured board and knead again. Divide in half. Form two long loaves.
You can use a French bread pan or cookie sheet. Bake at 350Β° for 50 to 60 minutes.
