Food Processor Pie Crust
Food Processor Pie Crust is an easy dinner. Made with 2 c. flour, 1 tsp. salt, 1/2 c. vegetable shortening, chilled, 4 tbsp. butter, chilled and 6 tbsp. ice water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.
Insert metal blade into processor.
Add flour, salt and fat. Process with short bursts until consistency of coarse meal.
Pour ice water through feed tube; process.
Stop as soon as dough begins to form.
If necessary, add a bit more water.
Remove; divide in two.
Flatten slightly; wrap in waxed paper.
Refrigerate 4 hours or freeze 1 hour.
On lightly floured cutting board, roll out 1/8 inch thick, allowing 1 inch margin around pan.
Fit into pan gently; do not stretch or pull.
To eliminate sogginess, brush bottom of crust with egg white.
Prick well with fork.
