Dorset Apple Cake
Dorset Apple Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour, 1/2 c. sugar, 3 tsp. baking powder, 1/2 c. unsalted butter, cut up and 1/2 lb. cooking apples, peeled, cored and finely chopped (1 1/4 c.), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Butter and flour 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 3/4-inch loaf pan.
Line bottom of dish with waxed paper.
Butter and flour paper.
Preheat oven to 350Β°.
Sift flour, sugar and baking powder into large bowl with a pastry blender or knives; cut in butter until mixture resembles fine meal.
Toss chopped apple in flour mixture; set aside.
In small bowl, whisk together egg and milk until blended. Stir into apple mixture until mixed.
(Batter will be stiff.) Spread batter evenly in pan.
Bake for 45 to 50 minutes until knife comes out clean.
