Devilish Pumpkin Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3/4 c. margarine, butter or shortening, 2 1/2 c. sugar, 4 eggs, 3 c. pumpkin (preferably fresh), cooked and drained and 3 1/2 c. unbleached flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Cream butter and sugar in large bowl.

Add eggs, one at a time.

Mix in pumpkin.

In separate bowl, combine remaining ingredients, except for nuts and chocolate chips.

Stir dry ingredients into pumpkin mixture, a little at a time; blend thoroughly.

Stir in nuts and chocolate chips.

Grease and flour 2 loaf pans.

Pour in batter, dividing evenly.

Bake in a 350Β° oven for 1 hour and 10 minutes, or until toothpick in center comes out clean.

This can be prepared a day ahead.

Will last 1 to 2 weeks if wrapped and refrigerated.
