Date Nut Bread
Date Nut Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3/4 c. water, 1/4 c. shortening, 1 (8 oz.) pkg. chopped dates, 3/4 c. chopped walnuts and 2 eggs, beaten, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.

In a small saucepan bring water and shortening to a boil; pour over dates in bowl.
Stand for 15 minutes.
Add nuts, eggs and vanilla.
In a small bowl, combine flour, sugar, soda and salt.
Stir into date mix.
Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
Bake at 350Β° for 65 to 70 minutes.
Cool in pan 10 minutes.
