In a large heatproof pitcher, beat the eggs.
Add granulated sugar and salt.
Slowly blend in the scalded milk and stir in the vanilla.
In the bottom of each custard cup, put a rounded tablespoon of dark brown sugar and pour the egg mixture in.
Set in a pan of hot water and bake at 350Β° until a knife comes out clean, about 1/2 hour.
