Country Apple Pie
Country Apple Pie is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 6 to 8 apples (golden delicious for sweetness; stayman winesap for tartness), 1 c. sugar, 1 tsp. cinnamon, 2 tsp. flour and 2 tsp. butter (to dot top), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
Slice apples into a bowl, then toss with sugar, cinnamon and flour until apples are covered.
Heap apples in pie shell; dot with butter.
Roll out second half of dough.
Moisten edge of bottom crust.
Cover apples with top layer of dough.
Cut slits in top to let out steam.
Fold up excess pastry onto edge of pie.
Press top and bottom together, using finger or fork.
Put foil all around the rim of pie plate to keep crust edge from burning.
Place pie pan on cookie sheet.
Bake at 425° for 15 minutes.
Turn down oven to 350° and continue baking for 45 to 50 minutes or until apples are tender.
