Congo Bars
Congo Bars is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 3/4 c. sifted flour, 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder, 1/2 tsp. salt, 2/3 c. shortening and 2 1/4 c. light brown sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Mix and sift flour, baking powder and salt.
Melt shortening, add brown sugar and stir until well mixed.
Allow to cool slightly.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Add dry ingredients, nuts, chocolate and vanilla.
Pour into greased 10 x 15-inch or 9 x 13-inch pan.
Bake at 350Β° for 30 minutes.
