Cocaine Throat Pastilles
Cocaine Throat Pastilles are reimagined as cocaine-free Victorian-style sugar lozenges scented with lemon, clove, and peppermint. They set into glossy amber discs for a novelty candy plate, not medicine.
π Recipe adapted from Wikidata (Dish)
Oil small candy molds or a parchment-lined tray very lightly.
Cook sugar, corn syrup, and lemon juice to a hard candy stage, swirling instead of stirring once it boils.
Take the syrup off the heat and fold in peppermint extract, clove, and ginger powder.
Pour or spoon small discs and let them cool completely before removing.
Dust the pastilles with powdered sugar so they stay separate in storage.
