Clam Fritters

Heat vegetable oil or shortening (3 to 4 inches) to 375Β° in deep fat fryer or heavy saucepan.
Beat flour, baking powder, salt, milk, egg and reserved clam liquid with hand beater until smooth.

Drop by level tablespoonfuls into hot oil.
Fry until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
Drain on paper towels.
Serve with cocktail sauce.
