Cream the butter, shortening and sugar. Sift dry ingredients together.
Add dry ingredients and milk alternately, about 1/3 at a time, beating constantly. Add eggs, one at a time.
Add vanilla. Pour batter into greased and floured tube pan. Bake 1 hour and 25 minutes at 300Β°.
