Chocolate Oatmeal Cake

Pour boiling water over oats; stir to combine.
Cover and let stand 20 minutes.
Beat butter until creamy and gradually add sugars, beating until fluffy.
Blend in vanilla, eggs and chocolate.
Add oats mixture; blend well.
Sift together flour, soda and salt.
Add to creamed mixture; blend well.
Pour batter into a well-greased and floured 9-inch square baking pan.
Bake in preheated oven (350Β°) for 50 to 55 minutes.
Cool 15 minutes. Remove from pan; cool thoroughly.
Add icing.
