Chocolate-Caramel Bars
Chocolate-Caramel Bars is an easy dinner. Made with 12 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips, 2 tbsp. shortening, 30 vanilla caramels, 3 tbsp. butter and 1 c. coarsely chopped peanuts, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.

Melt 1 cup chocolate chips with 1 tablespoon shortening in double boiler over hot water; blend well.
Spread in foil-lined 8-inch square dish.
Chill until firm.
Melt caramels with butter and 2 tablespoons water in double boiler over hot water.
Stir in peanuts.
Spread over chocolate layer.
Chill for 15 minutes or until partially set.
Melt remaining 1 cup chocolate and 1 tablespoon shortening in double boiler over hot water.
Spread over caramel layer.
Chill until firm.
Cut into 1 x 2-inch bars. Store, covered, in refrigerator.
Yield: 1 1/2 pounds.
