Chocolate Cake
Chocolate Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3/4 c. cocoa, 1 1/3 c. sugar, 1 1/4 c. scalded milk, 2/3 c. shortening and 1 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Sift cocoa with 1/3 cup sugar.
Add scalded milk gradually and stir until smooth.
Combine shortening, salt and vanilla. Add 1 cup sugar gradually and cream thoroughly.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition.
Add soda to flour and sift three times.
Add flour to creamed mixture, mixing after each addition until smooth.
Pour into two 9-inch layer pans that have been greased and floured.
Bake at 350Β° for 25 minutes.
