Cherry Surprise Balls

Yields 5 dozen cookies.
With electric mixer, cream butter and confectioners sugar until light and fluffy.
Remove beaters and stir in flour and vanilla.
When well mixed, stir in pecans.
Wrap dough in waxed paper.
Chill for several hours so it will be quite stiff.
Pinch off small portions of dough.
Flatten and roll around cherry to make a ball.
Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
Chill for 15 minutes.
Bake about 20 minutes in a 375Β° preheated oven.
While still warm, roll in sifted confectioners sugar.
