Cherry Pie
Cherry Pie is an impressive dinner. Made with 2 (1 lb.) cans tart red cherries, 3/4 c. sugar, 3 1/2 tbsp. cornstarch, 1/4 tsp. salt and 1/2 tbsp. grated lemon peel (optional), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Drain cherries.
Reserve 1 1/4 cups liquid. Combine 3/4 cup sugar, cornstarch and salt. Add reserved liquid.
Cook until thick, stirring constantly.
Add cherries, lemon peel, lemon juice and food coloring.
Pour into pastry shell. Combine flour, 1/2 cup sugar and spices.
Cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over cherries.
Bake in a 400Β° oven about 30 minutes or until crust is brown. Serve warm.
