California Walnut Bread
California Walnut Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3 c. all-purpose flour, 1 c. granulated sugar, 4 tsp. baking powder, 1 tsp. salt and 3/4 c. shortening, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
Into mixing bowl, sift flour with sugar, baking powder and salt.
Cut in shortening.
Stir in 1 1/4 cups of walnuts.
Add egg, milk and vanilla; mix until ingredients are blended.
Turn into greased and floured 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
Sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup walnuts over top.
Bake at 350Β° for 60 to 70 minutes, or until loaf tests done.
Let stand in pan 10 minutes.
Turn out onto wire rack to cool.
Makes 1 loaf.
