Brown Irish Soda Bread
Brown Irish Soda Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 1/3 cups whole wheat flour, 2/3 cup white flour, 1/2 tsp. salt, 3/4 tsp. baking soda and 8 oz. buttermilk (and maybe a little more), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Mix all dry ingredients together, rub in the butter.
Make into a very wet dough with buttermilk or well soured milk.
Knead lightly.
Put in a greased 7-inch cake tin.
Make a cross on top with a floured knife.
Cover with a lid and bake in a 375-400 degree oven for about 30-45 minutes.
Dark, crumbly and delicious.
