Bread Sticks
Bread Sticks is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 pkg. yeast, 1 c. warm water, 2 tbsp. melted shortening, 1 tbsp. sugar and 1 1/2 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.

Soften yeast in warm water.
Stir in shortening, sugar, salt and 1 1/2 cups flour.
Beat well.
Add enough flour to make a stiff dough.
Beat well.
Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
Divide dough into four parts.
Roll out one part on a floured surface into an 8-inch square.
Cut into four 2-inch strips.
Roll along 8-inch side to form sticks.
Place on greased baking sheet. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with salt (or sesame or caraway).
Repeat with remaining dough.
Let rise until light, 30 to 45 minutes.
Bake at 400Β° for 15 to 20 minutes.
Serve warm.
