Blackberry Cake
An old-fashioned blackberry cake spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg, with juicy berries folded right into the batter. A purple-tinged crumb perfect with afternoon coffee.

Beat butter and sugar; add 2 eggs, one at a time.
Then add water or berry juice.
Sift flour, soda, baking powder and spices together.
Add to batter.
Coat berries with flour.
Fold into batter.
This will keep berries from sinking to bottom.
Grease and flour two or three 8 or 9-inch pans.
Bake at 350Β° until done. Frost with seven minute frosting or your favorite (caramel is very good).
