Banana-Nut Bread
Banana-Nut Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2/3 c. shortening, 2 1/2 c. flour, 1 2/3 c. sugar, 1 1/4 tsp. baking powder and 1 1/2 c. bananas, mashed, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.

Sift dry ingredients.
Stir in shortening until softened.
Add bananas and half of buttermilk; mix until flour is damp.
Beat vigorously for 2 minutes.
Add rest of buttermilk and eggs.
Beat 2 more minutes.
Add nuts and stir.
Bake in greased or paper-lined pans at 350Β° for 35 to 45 minutes, until done.
Cool 10 minutes.
It may be topped with whipped cream and sliced bananas.
