Baked Alaska
Baked Alaska is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder, 1/4 c. shortening, 1 egg and 1 qt. ice cream (brick), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Grease and flour 9-inch pan.
Sift flour with sugar, baking powder and salt into mixing bowl.
Add shortening and milk.
Beat 1 1/2 minutes at low speed with mixer or 225 strokes with a spoon. Add egg and vanilla extract.
Beat 1 1/2 minutes more.
Pour into pan.
Bake at 350Β° for 20 to 25 minutes, until cake springs back when lightly touched in center.
