Apricot Bread
Apricot Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. dried apricots (about 1/2 pkg.), 1 c. sugar, 2 tbsp. shortening, 1 egg and 1/4 c. water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Soak apricots for 30 minutes in warm water.
Mix sugar, shortening and egg thoroughly.
Stir in 1/4 cup water and orange juice.
Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt and stir into liquid to form batter.
Blend in chopped nuts and apricots.
Line bottom of pan with waxed paper.
Grease and flour sides of pan.
Pour in batter and let stand 15 minutes.
Bake at 350Β° for 55 minutes.
Makes 1 large loaf or 2 medium or 3 small loaves.
