Apple Pandowdy
Apple Pandowdy is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 4 c. tart apples, peeled and sliced thin, 3/4 c. brown sugar, 1 1/4 c. flour, 1 tsp. cinnamon and 1/4 tsp. nutmeg, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Arrange apple slices in a greased baking dish.
In saucepan, mix brown sugar, 1/4 cup flour, spices and water.
Place over low heat.
Cook until thickened, stirring constantly.
Stir in 2 tablespoons butter and lemon juice.
In separate bowl, mix remaining flour, salt and baking powder.
Cut in remaining butter until consistency of cornmeal.
With a fork, stir in enough milk to make a soft dough.
Spoon onto apples, making 8 biscuits.
Bake at 375Β° for 40 minutes.
