Apple Bread
Apple Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. butter or margarine, 2 eggs, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. double-acting baking powder and 2 tbsp. buttermilk or sour milk, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.

Cream butter; slowly add sugar and beat until light and lemon colored.
Beat in 2 eggs.
Sift the flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder together.
Add to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
Stir in the apples, walnuts and the vanilla extract or lemon rind. Butter a 9 or 10 x 5 x 3-inch loaf tin.
Spoon the batter into the tin and bake in a preheated 350Β° oven 50 to 60 minutes, until the loaf pulls away slightly from the sides of the tin or until a cake tester comes out clean.
Cool in the pan 5 minutes, then cool completely on a rack before serving.
