Apple Bars
Apple Bars is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 1/2 c. flour, 2 tbsp. sugar, 1 tsp. salt, 2 sticks margarine and 2 egg yolks, mixed with enough milk to make 2/3 c., this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.

Mix the first 4 ingredients as for pie crust.
Add egg yolk mixture to flour mixture.
Blend and divide in 2 parts.
Roll each to fit a jelly roll pan.
Put one on bottom and sprinkle dough with crushed cornflakes.
Peel and slice apples; sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
Mix into apples and spread on top of cornflake crumbs.
Cover with remaining dough and seal edges. Beat egg whites slightly; brush on top crust.
Sprinkle lightly with sugar.
Bake at 350Β° for 1 hour.
