Rinse a large bowl with hot water, then pour warm water into bowl.

Sprinkle yeast over warm water.

Add sugar and salt and stir until completely dissolved.

Add egg, butter and 3 cups of flour, mixing with a wooden spoon or mixer at medium speed.

Beat very hard for 2 minutes or until smooth.

Gradually add 1 cup of flour, beating hard after addition.

Using hands, work remaining 2 cups of flour into dough until dough is smooth and elastic.

After working in all flour, return dough to large bowl.

Brush top of dough with 1 teaspoon melted butter.

Cover and let stand until it doubles in size.

If using immediately, punch dough down and shape into medium size balls.

Let rise again before baking.

If not using immediately, punch dough down and refrigerate.
