Mix together water, sugar, salt and yeast.

Stir until dissolved.

Add eggs and soft shortening.

Mix first with a spoon, then with hands.

Add lukewarm mashed potatoes.

Add flour; work and knead well.

Let rise to double in bulk.

Work down and shape in rolls.

Let rise and bake or keep in refrigerator for several days before baking rolls.

Makes good "loaf bread".

Bake at 450Β° for 10 minutes.

Dip in butter and fold over before baking.
